Abstract:

The Tipió region, located at the border of Pest and Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok counties,. is a relatively small area surrounded by Gödöllő hills and the Jászság. A review in the literature showed that very few taxa were studied in this region. Our aims were to study the diversity of birds, to monitor the endangered species and to identify any threats to the bird fauna. We recorded 128 breeding species, 15 of which are strictly protected. The Tápió region locates at the border of Pest and Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county. This area is a relatively small area with unique landscape, which is surrounded by Gödöllő hills and the Jászság. The Tápió region is a less studied area of our country. A review in the literature showed thatjust a few taxon were studied. We focused on the bird fauna of this district. Our aims were to study the biodiversity and to monitor the endangered species as well as to investigate the deleterious effects on the bird fauna. In the region we recorded 128 breeding species, out of them 15 are strictly protected. We published some differences in the population density of some species. We suggest some guidelines for nature conservation management.
