Halogénezett szénhidrogének hatása a madártojásra: egy klórbenzollal végzett alapkísérlet
Halogenized hydrocarbon xenobiotics (pesticides, insecticides) accumulate in the soil, pollute ground waters and appear in elevated concentrations in biological systems (e.g. in animal tissues). The aim of this study was to examine the effects of chlorobenzene, chosen as a standard halogenized hydrocarbon compound, on an in vitro model system. We measured the thickness, structure and Ca2+ content of eggshells subjected to different chlorobenzene concentrations. Chicken (Gallus domesticus) eggs (containing 2-day-old embryos) were placed for 14 days in soil contaminated with chlorobenzene. We found a negative correlation between the thickness of the shell and the chlorobenzene concentration. The microscopic changes in the structure of the shells' outer and inner surface was related to the altered Ca2+ content.
