Természetvédelmi beruházások madártani eredményei a Budapesti Természetvédelmi Igazgatóság működési területén
The significance of rehabilitation and restoration of natural ecosystems - management tasks of protected areas - has recently increased. The drought years of the early 90's and the earlier drainage of wetland areas led to considerable water deficit. Wetland improvements supported the Central Environmental Found (KKA) were the following: (1) Construction of channel gates in the Ócsa Landscape Protection Area - this resulted in rising the water level and the stabilisation at the Old Turján area. (2) Continuous water supply since 1993 for the drained reedbeds on the Southern part of the Dinnyési-Fertő Nature Reserve. (3) Water regime rehabilitation and habitat reconstruction at the Vértes Landscape Protection Area in 1994. The water supply project for Lake Velence was supported by the Hungarian government, local authorities and by other donors.. The favourable effects of the water level increase could be detected in the Lake Velence Bird Reserve and its surroundings.
